In the second row the best thing to do is to always look for the advancing player to make the stop. An individual with more sight of how the game progresses is the best for stoping an opponent from gaining yards. Lastly on defense hit low and hit hard, hitting the other player low will stop the advance.

If you have good lifters a quick spring will get you up, its mostly about technique so practice with the props and get to know what suits them. When you are in the air lock out your legs, you will be able to stay up there as your foot will lock in around the props chest.

when playing in second row make sure your at the breakdown as fast as possible and hit hard to clear out for your scrum half to pick up if your team does not have the ball then only commit 2 or 3 you'll also need 2 guards and a shield

A great second row player has no regard for anything except for the protection of his teammates and of the ball.

Second row is projected like a ballerina into the sky, there to look down on smaller mortals. The scrums are less of a slog & there are loads of trendy things like ball carrying and tackling in which to engage. You should take more workouts for legs, cores and for arms.

second row is for hench people who want to run into people at a higher speed than a prop forward. Need to be able to tackle and be prepared to put your body on the line for your team.
