"War" written by Edwin Starr is one of the many that originated during Vietnam. Also in this category are "Blowin in the Wind" by Bob Dyland and "I Don't Want to be a Soldier" by John Lennon. Lennon has many protest songs. More modern songs include "Mosh" by Eminem and "Amen" by Kid Rock.

More or less anything by the band Anti Flag will do just fine. Look them up, browse their lyrics, and decide which ones you like the best. The band, including front man Justin Sane, are very outspoken in their political beliefs, and will make for the perfect soundtrack to any protest you can find.

The best type of Protest Song is the sort that can be picked up by many people easily. Songs with an easy chorus or a lot of repetition are a good base. 'Singing For Our Lives' [Holly Near] and 'We Shall Overcome' [Pete Seeger], would be great places to start.

Green Day has a lot of songs that protest government and propoganda. Songs such as, American Idiot and Holiday are two that come to mind.
