Urinary Tract Infections are a frequent cause of burning during and after urination. The condition is most common in sexually active women, or men with enlarged prostates. A few STDs can cause pain while urinating, including Chlamydia and Genital Herpes. Bladder infections, called 'Cystitis' can also contribute to this kind of pain.

Burning before and after urination is almost always the result of an infection. Kidney stones are another possibility, as is some sort of physical injury or abrasion.
