Currently a lot of African Americans wear twists, braids, and extensions. Many women still wear weave designs. Cornrows are still popular. Many are also wearing short, natural fros with no chemicals. Dreadlocks are still being worn but not as much as in the past. Relaxed styles are most popular with African American women.

Very straight, and well cut edges are some new trends. Also styles of the 80's are coming back, as well as the mo-hawk for women. Consider blunt cuts and less use of hair sheens.

Many african americans are doing weaves to change their hair do. They use weaves to make hair longer and to alter its style. Also, shaved heads, with clean lines are popular among the men.

A lot of African women are starting to go extremely short with practically shaved heads. The look really does look nice on them.
