I would not suggest wearing plastic pants they would become hot from body heat and stick like glue. I have noticed that it is acceptable to wear plastic for a belt or coat. Even shoes are plastic sometimes. If you like it wear it.
So long as you aren't a super model walking down the runway in nothing but bubblewrap, it's rarely used except in accessories such as earrings, belts, rings, and bracelets.
