You could opt for a different color, though these have a variety of implications, most brides opt for a less than dressy outfit and a spruced up reception.

A friend of mine got married in a Kimono. I've also seen people go with a white dress that was very slim fitting and casual. You can also choose a dress that is a different color. It's your big day so do what you want.

You can try an ivory or champagne colored dress. Or add some visual interest by adding a coordinating ribbon (to match your other wedding colors) or beading to your gown. You can also try a short dress, a simple summer dress or a pretty pant suit. I have seen brides do a red gown - that's definitely different. Good luck!

You can try an Ivory color to start. I have even seen brides where non white such as soft pink or even tan.
