Cocaine has almost no medical uses in modern medicine. It is still rarely used as a topical anaesthetic, though the other options are generally considered better choices.

During eye or ear surgery it is used as a topical anesthetic. There is also a mixture of cocaine, vodka and cherry syrup given to individuals with cancer for pain controll. It is also used as a topical in the upper palate for cluster headache relief. It is also used for fiber tube optical examinations.

In some parts of Europe cocaine is still used as a local anasthetic and vascoconstrictor. Before 1914 cocaine was used in the USA to treat conditions such as sinusitis, hay fever, depression and chronic fatigue.

Cocaine is illegal and should not be taken to treat any medical aliments or conditions. In the past it was used as an anesthetic in Europe. In America it was used to teat depression, treat sinusitis, hay fever,chronic fatigue and for appetite suppression. There are other was today treat these conditions.
