You should watch the University Nevada. They run the option out of the Pistol, so its a handoff up the middle, a QB sweep or a Half Back pitch everytime

the pistol, which has the quarterback taking a shorter shotgun snap, gives the ability to penetatrate the defense quicker. a jailbreak screen to the wide receiver is a quick developing play easily accomplished from the pistol. an inside handoff, with a pulling guard, also gives the defense little time to react. lastly a bubble screen works near the goal line.
