From my experience, you can never go wrong giving a man food or alcohol. Hot sauce, fancy mustard or a large slab of meat work for food. For booze, a nice bourbon or whiskey seems to be well received. Cigars can also potentially work.

Take into consideration the man's likes and his hobbies. If he likes NASCAR, for instance, there are many gifts he would appreciate. The same goes for football and baseball.
