British rock describes a wide variety of forms of music made in the UK. The Beatles, The Animals, Manfred Mann, Petula Clark, Freddie and the Dreamers, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and the Kinks are all good.

While there are many one older band called Joy Division came out of the british punk rock scene. One newer band is Bloc Party.
