The whole "sticking straight up" thing doesn't work for me.

A great style is to have your hair tightly braided in multiple braids on your head. You can also do some cornrolls.

Go short and natural with your afro for a self confident look. If you're feeling saucy, comb back an inch or so from your forehead and secure hair with a head band or wide ribbon. This is a fun, regal look.
