Half ponytail are excellent for beauty pageants because they combine the elegance of an up do with the femininity of free flowing hair. When hair is pulled away from the temples, cheekbones are revealed and the eyes become the focal point. However, the hair left down narrows the face, subduing any roundness.

Try an elaborate up-do, those always get the judges going. Try something with lots of rhinestones or glitter in it if you want to stand out, you can do it yourself with bobby pins with rhinestones on them or get a hairstylist to do it for you.
