All for-profit companies must pay income taxes. There are no companies exempt from taxes, but they will owe no taxes if they have significant financial losses. For profit and tax exempt non-profits both pay income taxes and payroll taxes for their employees.

The only groups that are tax exempt are non-profit organizations. A company is not tax exempt, unless it is an art "company" like a ballet troop that is organized as a non-profit. Non-profit groups include many hospitals, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Doctors Without Borders, Feed the Children, Samaritan's Purse, and all food banks.

A tax exempt company would basically be a non profit organization that makes less than 7000 dollars or so a year.

These include, but are not limited to (taken from the tax code directly): Veterans Organizations, Employee Funded Pension Trusts, Retirement Fund Associations, Domestic Fraternal Societies and Associations, Labor, Agricultural, and Horticultural Organizations, Business Leagues, Chambers of Commerce, Real Estate Boards, and Religious and Apostolic Associations.
