One idea for an engagement gift would be something that the couple could share, like a pair of toasting flutes. The couple could the share these during the reception on their wedding day. Another gift you could give with that would be a nice bottle of wine for the couple.

I would buy a gift for the two of them, but something that leans a little more toward what he likes and is interested in. Be as specific as possible. If he likes to grill chicken, a grill would be great or Grilling accessories with sauces.
