What are some educational gifts for kids?

All kids are fascinated by a science gift. Tickets to a science museum where they are showing a movie about a subject the child likes (such as dinosaurs, outer space, etc.) would be really special and appreciated.

Last Christmas, we made some wooden board games for my nephews. We did a large scale wooden tic tac toe that was pretty cool. We also made some "devil sticks" for the older kids, which were a hit. If you don't want to make something, there's always the option of books, craft kits, and board games. Animal field guides, too.

Puzzles are fun and hands on. Books that have activities with them. Project books of stuff they can make or do for themselves or others. How to books on audio or video.

I guess books could be of great present for them. So that they can enhance there reading and comprehension skills.
