Turtles love to sit in the warm sun. You can often find them hiding out on rocks or cement that the sun is on.

When I found my turtle, I had a 50 gallon tank. I took a couple rocks, screwed some boards underneath and the turtle would actually hide underneath the rock.

Turtles hide in their shells. It's their natural protection from predators. They simply pull in their head, legs, and arms and they become an instant rock.
