Qualified expenses are tuition, books, fees, a computer (if the school requires it), and room and board up to the amount the school would charge.

Here are some of the qualified expenses:tuition,required fees (e. g. student technology fee), new or used books,supplies, equipment and special needs services. If the student is attending for at least six or more credit hours, room and board also qualify. See IRS Publication 970.
