I am going to a 50's party.

There was the bob for females, chin length hair on the sides with bangs. Longer hair you have the behive, which takes tons of bobby pins and hair spray to get that tower look. Guys can just gel it up and slick it back.

If you are a woman, 1950 hairstyles required high maintenance. Hair was long and curly. If you are a man, then the pompadour was the way to go.

It depends what part of the 50's you are going for. Marilyn Monroe is a good example with tighter curls all over. Betty Page, the huge under-curl (tube) and smooth hair in the back. If you are going for the flapper look then finger waves were a huge staple.

For a 50s young person, there was the high worn ponytail. Many women liked the short pixie haircut. Some even liked the loose long hair.
