Common illnesses include Caprine Arthritis and Encephalitis Virus, Blackleg, Bottle Jaw, Coccidiosis and Foot and Mouth Disease. They can also become ill from ingestion of poisonous plants such as ragwort (a common weed found in hay), Clematis, laurel and rhododendron to name a few.

Pet goats can suffer with skin infections, milk infections, troubles during childbirth and many parasite infections. There are also infections from bad feed and bladder infections. It is best to establish a relationship with a vet of farm animals who can give the best advice.

Acetonemia, anaemia, rinderpest, anorexia, eye conditions, goat pox, parasitic winter diarrhea and arthritis, are all common illnesses to the goat species.
