The cut-off age is 16 in the Olympic year.Honestly, physical age is nothing, there are people out there that are 30 years old and naturally look like they are 17.Gymnasts must be at least 16 years of age to compete in Olympics.its also depends upon the physically stamina of the body of the boy .

The minimum age to be a gymnast in the Olympics is sixteen years old. The reason being is that schooling has to come first, as the Olympics do involve traveling and having to train. Once schooling is over the gymnast can concentrate fully on the Olympic events and is free to take part.

You don't have to be too old but the point is it all depends on your level of skill and talent and the priorities you hold for the Olympics as it involves high amounts of travel and what not. Thus, the minimum age they have set off for the olympics is 16.

while there isnt an actual age requirement to travel to another country for the olympics you must be atleast 16 yrs of age by the beginning of the competitive season but if the meet is wqithin the us there is no age requirement but usually male gymnasts hit the peak of their ability between the ages of 16-24
