This is doubted by bible cynics but is entirely possible. A sperm whale or a great white shark could've swallowed a man whole. It may have been a now extinct fish. How did he survive in there? For God - who created the universe and has perfomed countless miracles throughout the scriptures - all things are possible.

That is an excellent question but it's hard to answer. Many churches and Biblical scholars have different opinions on how literally the Bible should be taken. Some believe it is purely or mostly metaphorical and others believe every word is literally true.

The bible states that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. It is nearly impossible to prove or disprove this occurrence. It seems unlikely that a human could survive being swallowed by a fish but the bible cites it as a miracle.

Again, questions like this are ultimately a matter of faith or stlye of interpretation. Strict, fundamentalist readings of the bible would recognize that Jonah was literally swallowed by a fish. However, others understand incidents like this in the bible are more metaphorical in nature, and are therefore presented to teach some kind of lesson rather than chronicle a specific event.

According to the Bible, yes! Jonah was swallowed by the fish, and stayed there for quite a while! I don't think I'd like to be swallowed by a fish, would you?

i think that in the past miracles did happen, because god was trying to help people to not get lost in this word through messengers and religions. so i am sure that the fish did really swallow jonah.
