Should you cut back a leggy dieffenbachia?

These plants can be trimmed when they tend to branch out or become leggy. Cutting back to approximately six inches is recommended. The new growth will appear below the area you cut. They need moist soil and bright filtered light. As the plant grows taller it will naturally shed its bottom leaves.

A dieffenbachia which has become rootbound will gnarl and twist. Trimming back some of the growth will allow new growth, and the cuttings can be rooted for new plants.
