How do you grow impatients, specifically what are the guidelines on cutting them back?

I know that with impatients you need to cut them back but I do not understand how, why or when to do this.

Impatiens require a great deal of watering if you have just transplanted them. However, they are fairly low maintenance plants, requiring only judicious watering- you don't want to leave them soaking. Your impatiens does not require cutting back unless it has become very overgrown.

Full of light shade site can be good to grow. Soil should be moist and fertilize each four weeks. After they become spindly we can cut it off.

You can cut your impatients back to 4-6 inch stems. They are very hardy and will grow back in just a few weeks. Probably looking better and fuller than before.
