Glucosamine can be very effective for hip flexor injuries. There have been studies suggesting glucosamine can be useful in improving joint pain and forms of osteoarthritis, but any supplement should be combined with exercise, stretching, weigh loss if applicable, and physician care such as a chiropractor and/or an orthopaedic physician specializing in hips and leg injuries.

Glucosamine can help stimulate tissue growth associated with cartilage. While glucosamine has been associated with the treatment of hip related issues to include arthritis, it will not necessarily assist in the recovery of a hip flexor injury. Significant stretching of this area, with the addition of cold/warm compresses and self-massage is a better course of action.

Glucosamine and similar chondroitin mixes are widely recommended by health fitness sources, but they don't necessarily have a firm link to joint repair. That said, many athletes use them for knee and joint improvement since they help retain fluid in joints which acts as a lubricant.

Glucosamine is fine to take to help ease the pain of joint injuries. Many people prefer it over aspirin or ibuprofen.
