Geraniums are strong plants and are easy to keep. They can be pulled from the dirt, hung in a cool location for the entire winter. When replanted in the spring, they will grow. They can be brought into the house, placed in a sunny window to bloom profusely all winter.

I always pull or cut off the spent flowers and then more will grow. In some climates, maybe you can let them go to seed and then cut down.

I would if they are dying just let them be. If they are still looking good I would pick off the leaves and buds that are already dying as those steal nutrients from the rest of the plant. When they are completely dying just let them die off by themselves.

Cut the flowers stalks off and put them in a pot with a little dirt. Set in the garage and in the spring they should start to sprout.
