Should I hyphenate my daughter's last name?

Remember, your child has to be able to spell his or her name in kindergarten or first grade. It's probably better to keep things simple.

Only if: 1. Your child's name is not so long as to be cumbersome. 2. You think the child would appreciate it later. 3. Both parents agree to the hyphenation.

It is totally up to you if you would like to hypenate her name. Some unmarried couples our couples who are married but have different last names sometimes choose to do this. You could either give her the last name of her father or hypenate it and give her both.
