Every woman is different, and so every menstrual cycle is different. It should be of enough concern to see your OBYGN as soon as you can. You can get a lot of help regulating your period, if there's not a serious problem, by taking oral contraceptive(birth control). It will help you have one (or none) period a month.

Women's menstrual cycles vary with a number of factors, including things like diet. However, if you are consistently having frequent periods, then there is probably something more happening. Only a gynecologist can tell for sure, but if this happens on an ongoing basis there could be a problem.

More than one period a year could be a sign of Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS. This syndrome is characterized by many cyst on the overies. You should consult a physician.

Any strange or irregular cycles in your period should be addressed with your gynocologist as soon as possible. This can indicate a medical issue, or may be your natural cycle that needs to be adjusted and corrected with birth control pills. You can become anemic from losing too much blood without that type of treatment.
