Any type of abnormal growth on an infant's hand should be looked at by a doctor even though there may not be cause for alarm. What seems like a cyst could actually be an "extra" floating bone called an "ossa sesamoidea", or "sesame seed" bone. As your child grows, it may no longer even be noticeable!

Yes. Be concerned if anything malnormal turns up on a baby anywhere. It is okay to be worried about ailments on a helpless child. Seek immediate medical attention. Cysts are not good even on adults let alone a baby. In the long run taking a child in for medical help is better than not doing anything.

Yes you should be concerned about a cyst on the hand of your baby. Do you know its a cyst because you took your baby to the doctor or do you just think it is a cyst? Just to be sure its just a cyst take your baby to multiple doctors to make sure its nothing more serious.

It seems to be infantile digital fibroma. Eventually many fibromas resorb and disappear by themselves over 2 to 3 years, so that a conservative wait and see approach is best if they are not causing problems. If desired, they can be removed by a simple surgical procedure in which the lump is shaved off. However, many recur after surgery.
