Rather than subject yourself to unnecessary worry and seek out unreliable and potentially dangerous advice via the internet, it is much more adviseable to submit your health concerns to a licensed medical practioner, specifically your gynologist in this regard.

Sometimes it takes awhile for your period to regulate itself. For awhile your period may beheavy or light to even just spotting. If you are breastfeeding it could take even longer. If the irregularity lasts too long, see your doctor. You might have another problem going on. But sooner or later your hormones and periods will straighten out.

Bleeding after birth can last a long time, so it is not necessarily a sign of a problem. However, if your bleeding is extremely heavy, then you should call your doctor immediately. An extremely heavy period would be marked by having to change a regular pad due to fullness more than once per hour.
