It can be an infection somewhere in his body. Any sudden lumps can be dangerous so if it stays a doctor should be consulted.

It is probably just a swollen lymph node. He may have an infection somewhere. It should go down in a few days.

It could be a swollen lymph node. When infected they are usually about the size of a grape. It could also be a boil from an ingrown hair.
