There is no central number fo call about a 401K. Retirements accounts are managed by a variety of investment firms. Your dad's papers should include regular statements with regard to his 401K. Your mom can probably contact his last employer to get in touch with the fund manager.

You need to know which custodian held your father's account. It could have been held by any mutual fund company or even a bank trustee. No one number can help.
