It depends on the specific medical condition of your pet. If your dog has bladder stones, for example, he or she will be put under general anesthesia and an incision will be made in your dog's abdomen. The stones will be removed and your pet will most likely remain hospitalized on fluids and pain medication.

As with human surgery, unless it's laparoscopic, it is an invasive procedure in which your pet will be put under anaesthesia, his vitals will be regulated, the surgical vet will cut into him to perform the required procedure. Have your vet explain, they will take excellent care of your friend.

After being anaesthetized, the vet will manually express the bladder to remove urine. An incision is then made along the midline to get to the bladder.

The dog will be placed under anestesia during bladder surgery. There will be an incision made on to open the bladder and remove the stones.
