Take your cat to the vet to make sure the cat does not have and infection or skin disorder. Excessive cleaning is a sign of some irritation which needs to be professional evaluated.

Cats are naturall cleaners and are constantly cleaning themselves. To stop your cat from over licking get a bitter apple spray or some typr of spray to make them not want to lick. If the prolem is still there after the spray definantly take you cat to the vet. the vet will be able to tell you if its serious.

My cat had this problem and was leaving bald spots and raw skin on her body. The vet said she had psychogenic something and that this sometimes happens to cats that are "touchy" and get stressed easily. With a little TLC she recovered nicely.

Take him to the vet and see is there is a skin problem that is causing this to happen. It could even be cancer or something more serious. The vet will have more answers than I will and good luck with your cat.
