I like the silence of a library to study, but if you are studying in a place with distracting noise, like a busy cafe, then classical music can be a godsend. I set the volume on my ipod to low, just enough to block out the ambient noises.

Yes, I think that Classical music is less distracting than music with audible words and tends to calm my nerves and help me focus on my studying.

For some people (myself inluded), it's very helpful! It's best to listen to music without vocals, which classical music doesn't usually have!

Classical music can provide a relatively peaceful background noise for studying; it's less disruptive than listening to your usual choice of music, during which you may be tempted to listen rather than study. But classical music in itself provides no real benefit other than serving as ignorable background noise. Choose a station with few or no commercials for best effect.

I am not too sure if it may help. But it certainly helps us to relax and improve concentration if we listen classical music prior to studying.
