Volunteer work is not considered deductible on your IRS federal tax return. However,a percentage of the mileage you use may be included on your Schedule A if you itemize deductions. This is considered part of charitable contributions.

You cannot deduct the value of your time volunteered on your tax return. You can, however, deduct your expenses incurred while volunteering. These can include the cost of any supplies, membership dues in a volunteer organization, and travel expenses (either exact costs or the number of miles traveled times the standard IRS mileage deduction for that year).

No, volunteer work is not tax deductible to the IRS off of your taxes. However, money that you donate to the charity and any goods that you donate are tax deductible. Volunteer work is considered pro bono, for free, and thus cannot be deducted off of state, local, or federal taxes.

Your volunteer work is not deductible. Travel expenses, parking and toll fees can be deducted if they were obtained while performing your volunteer work. If you buy something to be used in your volunteer work (i. e. , a work uniform or envelopes, etc. ) those can be deducted also.
