I live in India. Here, unemployment compensation is no way the responsibility of our employers. Once a person is terminated from the services for what so ever the reason the employer has no financial interaction with the employee.

Your employer pays unemployment taxes on the wages you earn while employed with them. Upon termination of employment you may qualify for unemployment compensation.

Unemployment compensation is the responsibility of the individual. You have to apply for unemployment to let the state know you are not working to receive unemployment benefits.

Unemployment taxes are paid by both the employee and the employer. If you are laid off, it is your responsibility to file for unemployment.
