Is this a true statement: If the metering device malfunctions and gets stuck in the closed position, the compressor could overheat.

It is true that meter device malfunctions happens because of two reasons one is because to pressure in the compressor (i. e) mineral oil might be low. or the winding of the coil in the compressor would have be wrong. because of the two reasons only the compressor gets heated and then the powder failure of the machine happens.

Yes the compressor could overheat. We can protect it by switching off the power supply and afterwards remove the air bulged inside the compressor.
