Is there such a thing as "long-sightedness"?

You always hear about "short-sightedness".

Long-sightedness is not an expression that is in use very often, but it would mean that the "long-sighted" person is too focused on the big picture to be able to micromanage well.

Yes. It is usually referred to as "far-sightedness." To be short-sighted means that one can see things up close but not far away. To be far-sighted means that one can see far away, but not up close. Far-sightedness is the reason people wear reading glasses.

The opposite of "short-sightedness" is not "long-sightedness". The opposite of "short-sightedness" is FAR-sightedness. They can see detail for things far away, but objects close by like a book's text is blurry or out of focus.

I think you are mistaken. There is such a thing as "near-sightedness" and there is such a thing as "far-sightedness", not "short-sightedness" though.
