The kind of cholesterol found in yogurt is "good cholesterol." There are studies that indicate that "bad" cholesterol levels seem to be lowered in individuals whose diets regularly contain yogurt. Fat-free yogurt does not contain cholesterol of any kind.

Yes! There are yogurts made from soy, rice, and coconut. I like So Delicious coconut milk yogurt and kefir. They're not only very tasty, but also have the added nutritional benefits of coconut!

Look for "dairy free" or "vegan" yogurt. They are usually made with soy milk because cow milk has cholesterol (4mg for skim to 33mg for whole milk per cup!). If your store has a separate "organic" section, check there too. Soy milk may help lower cholesterol by itself, so using that in place of cow's milk may have double benefit.
