A tripos is used often for large group shots. The steady factor is included in newer cameras being able to stay steady. To adjust to to get a large group or to use a remote to click the picture a tripos is a necessity. The height high or low can also come into the picture.

Depending on what type of camera an individual has, it may be advisable to have a tripod. It can make it easier if an individual does not wish to hold a large camera, or if they would like to take pictures with a timer and need somewhere to sit the camera.
