Cool black tea is a natural antiseptic and perfect for treating conjunctivitis. Make tea as normal and allow to cool. Using a clean cloth or cotton swab, rinse your eye out using the tea, ensuring that you wipe out and away from the tear ducts. Repeat every few hours.

conjunctivitis can be caused by eye strain or a bacterial infection. Carrot juice, spinach juice, and Indian gooseberry juice are good remedies. Also you can slice cucumbers and place over the eyes while resting the eyes.

In our family we use two remedies when this keeps arising. The first is to take cotton balls or cotton squares and soak them in salt water. Hold them over the eyelids. The salt water acts to destroy the infection. Alternatively, take damp tea bags, place them in boiling water, let cool and then place over the eyes.

The following may help: make an eyewash using a teaspoon of honey or dried chamomile flowers steeped in a cup of boiling water - allow to cool and apply; soak a cloth in Aloe Vera juice and hold to affected eye; apply a slice of raw potato to eye. All these methods use naturally astringent substances to soothe.

Breast milk will work wonders on this. If it's not available, try a few drops of honey in about a quarter cup lukewarm water. Golden seal tea is the best for this issue.
