Tail rot and fin rot are common betta diseases that are caused by water that becomes too dirty. You can actually prevent this disease by always keep their water clean. It does not seem to be contagious. If you treat your fish immediately you can stop the progression of the disease and their tails and fins will grow back.

Yes, Betta's are susceptible to Tail and Fin Rot. Tiny holes or blackened tips and even shredding of the fins are prime symptoms. Sometimes parts of the fins will actually fall off. Tail and Fin Rot is usually caused by dirty water. Bacteria grows from the feces and food bits if the tank is not cleaned often enough.

There is a disease called 'Tail-rot' that is exactly what it sounds like. It is treatable, and you should buy medicine at a pet store if you notice symptoms so the fish doesn't die. However, a fish might also 'blow out' or rip his fins if they're too long, this is normal and they should grow back.

Yes. There are treatments for it, but before that you need to find out why it is happening. It is fin rot. It is caused by poor water quality. You need to change the water more. Do you have a filter? Betta fish aren't actually supposed to live in a tiny bowl. Read a book about the betta.
