Is there a blood test to determine if you have HPV or not?

I got the Gardasil vaccine and haven't been sexually active so I've never had this test done, but my friend told me that you cannot get a blood test for HPV. Usually a physical examination is done, looking at the warts that seem like they could be HPV.

As far as I know, no. Because HPV is sexually transmitted, the "infected" cells are only in the tissue of sexual organs and can't travel to the bloodstream. There is no testing for men for HPV, and women can find out if they have it through a pap smear.

They actually do a test for hpv by taking a culture of your cervix during a vaginal exam. It will come out positive or not.

No blood test. HPV can't be grown in a lab. The diagnosis is often made visually or through pap smear during a pelvic exam. Men are diagnosed through their partners.
