Is the "two moons" thing a hoax?

Yes. There are no "Two moons. " What you may have read was on the Mars hoax. Mars can appear to be a second moon, however, there is only one true moon. If Earth had two moons, it would be thrown out of orbit, and humans would not exist. This is because the distance from the Sun would be changed substantially.

Earth originally has just one moon. Other planets can sometime be so close to earth that it can be seen as big as moon with naked eye. This deceives us and the planet seems to be another moon. This happened on 27th august when mars came very close to earth.
