Fuel Economy will be better in new cars compared to used. Engine wear on a used car will impact economy, but will vary based on the degree of wear.

Generally speaking, newer cars tend to get better fuel economy. However there is much more to consider then just age when talking about a cars fuel consumption. The main thing is the vehicles weight and it's engine displacement. A new heavy car can worse mileage then an old lighter model with the same sized engine.
