SSI payments due to age or disability are NOT taxable at the state or federal level. This information is not reported to the IRS and is not required to be reported on any return. However, statements are issued on request and may be needed to determine eligibility for other programs.

No it is not. They do not take any taxes out of your check purposely for that reason. You can claim any monies that you have earned other than you SSI income.

Supplemental Security Income from the Social Security Administration is not considered a taxable income and is dealt with differently than regular Social Security Benefits. The purpose of SSI is to provide income for necessary expenses and is not reported to the IRS as income.
