Copper can be used when soldering. It is especially prevalent in jewelery repair. Copper is a heavy metal and is easily manipulated when soldering. It has a melting point of 865 degrees. Make sure that the copper is very clean before trying to repair or manipulate, and follow any special directions that come with the project or tools.

For the purposes of electronic soldering copper has a too high of a melting temperature to be useful for soldering as it would damage any electronic components. Copper melts at around 1000degrees Celsius whilst most solders melt at under 400 degrees C. There are alloys for welding or brazing however.

Avery good question you've asked. I know from experience that plumbers solder copper all the time. Most water pipe in homes are made of copper.

yes, as its another form of soldering for plumbing or pipring in general opposed to the other popular form of soldering wiring. Soldering with copper as a source of solder is however not possible.
