Is my dry-clean-only shirt ruined since it went through the wash?

Not necessarily. It depends on the fabric and construction of the garment. If it's a wool knit and you washed it it hot soapy water, you've probably ended up with a teeny-tiny, felt shirt, but some fabrics will survive the washing machine. If you've not yet dried it, I'd suggest reshaping and hanging or laying flat to dry.

You will be able to tell if your shirt is damaged by looking it over. It may have shrunk. I may have stains that will now not come out. It may be fine. Different fabrics react differently. Some dry clean only items actually wash fine, don't assume it's trash yet!

If there was no visible damage or shrinking of the shirt it should be okay. Since it only happened one time I wouldn't really worry about it.
