Is it possible to make pita bread at home, or is special equipment required?

Yes. I make homemade all the time.It took me a long time to get it right. Make your home bread,let it rise.Then roll out the dough,make it thin.You can use a cup to press out the dough.Take a fork punch holes in dough.Put two of them together and bake.Have fun

Yes, it is possible. You need 3-4 cups flour, 1 to 1.5 cups lukewarm water, 1 package yeast, 2 tablespoons milk, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon salt. Materials are made by mixing the dough and left to ferment in a warm place. The little lump of dough will be opened slightly with rolling pin.

After mixing the pita bread dough, allow it to rise. Preheat oven to highest setting and preheat baking sheet. Roll out 5-6 inch around, 1/4 in deep, circles of dough. Bake one at a time for 4 minutes, until bread puffs up. Bake on other side for 2 minutes.

You can make something pita at home but for an authentic pita bread you usually need a very hot oven. Some ovens may not get hot enough to properly "poof" and crisp the bread. This means your if you have a stone or brick pizza oven or a super hot outside grill you should be able to make it.
