Physiologically speaking, it is next to impossible to get pregnant right before you start your period. The problem arises when women think they're about to start their period, based on their normal cycle length, but are wrong. It is normal for a woman to have one or two off cycles per year, when ovulation (and thus her period) is delayed.

There isn't a time that you can't get pregnant. No matter where you are in your cycle it's completely possible to become pregnant if you and your partner have unprotected sex. Use a condom or get on birth control in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Just be careful and be safe.

The likelihood changes greatly depending upon where you are in your menstrual cycle but, assuming that you and your partner are both fertile and engaging in unprotected vaginal sex, there is always some chance of pregnancy. Yes it is possible to get pregnant right before you start your period. The rule of thumb is 14 days before and 14 days after, but everyone is different. It depends on your body.

In contrast, you are most likely to conceive or get pregnant when your body is ovulating. This usually occurs about two weeks into your cycle and lasts about 2-3 days.

Yes it is very possible to get pregnant before your period. You can basically get pregnant at any time, but right before your period I believe is when you are going through ovulation and the egg is traveling through the fallopian tubes and uterus.
